Program Overview
The Leaders in Training (LIT) Program is a fun and formative summer experience for students ages 13-19 in South Etobicoke - and you don’t have to be a soccer player to participate!
Under the supervision of our staff team, participants will receive leadership training every week, as well as practical leadership experience by helping at the Lakeshore Soccer League kids program. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes details of running a large-scale community soccer program, and be part of preparing for the program every week.
The Leaders in Training Program has a Christian faith emphasis, and is open to anyone eager to grow as a young leader!
Other highlights include an optional scrimmage before the kids arrive, a TFC game at BMO field, and the opportunity to earn up to 40 community service hours over the course of the summer.
DATES, TIMES, AND LOCATION
We will meet at 2:30pm every Tuesday in July and August at Tatsu’s Bread (Lakeshore and Kipling), for lunch and our leadership training sessions. Afterwards, we will walk over to the field at Ken Cox/Father Redmond to set up before the kids arrive.
There, you will help as junior coaches with the kids program until 8:30pm.
To ensure our LIT participants are adequately supported and prepared for their responsibilities with the kids soccer program, attendance at the weekly training sessions is required (if you do need to miss a week, please let us know in advance).
The first day of the program is Tuesday, July 2nd. And on Wednesday, July 3rd, we are taking the entire LIT group to a TFC Game at BMO Field (more details to come, but mark your calendars)!
Cost
The cost is $50/person, and includes lunch every week and a uniform! That being said, we never want the cost to be a barrier for a youth participating in this amazing program.
